Driven to Vote......No Drive to really but we must.

Most men seem to live according to sense rather than reason.

                                                                                                                                    Thomas Aquinas

Who do we trust to run our country over the next five years?

Well I got driven to vote, hobbled in on my crutches, used my reason and put my X in the box. Make sure you do!

It's all down to the marketing these guys do to get us to pick the next PM but we are so far behind our American brethren. Or perhaps we're not as everyone is hung up on immigration, Europe, Englishness and amassing lot's of money. Perhaps the marketing is working.

The power of marketing the all American dream.

Who cares we can all eat cake or brioche not sure about the lard. I managed to make a Spiced Fruit Loaf today but had to sit down for an hour and a half while it cooked to recuperate.

Spiced Fruit Loaf

450g Mixed Dried Fruit with Peel
175g Demerara Sugar
1 tsp Mixed Spice
Splash of Orange Squash
1 Mug of Hot Tea or 150ml
25g Butter
1 Egg (beaten)
225g Self Raising Flour (sieved)
Put the mixed fruit, sugar, spice and orange squash into mixing bowl, then pour over the hot tea - cover with a tea towel and leave to soak overnight, or bring to the boil and simmer for 5 minutes.
Next day, when you are ready to bake the loaf, grease and line a loaf tin and heat oven to 150C. (Or if you boiled the fruit mix in the butter without melting and place the pan in a sink of cold water and stir the mix to cool the mixture before adding the egg and the flour).
Melt the butter and add it to the soaked fruit and sugar mixture mix well, before adding the beaten egg, and then the sieved flour.
Mix well with a wooden spoon and then spoon the mixture into the tin and bake for about 1.5 hours until firm, risen and golden brown.
Allow to cool in the tin for 5 to 10 minutes, before turning out onto a cooling wire.
