INKPEN

What a great name for a village. Inkpen! We went to Swindon to see Wendy, Faz and Catherine and decided to drive back through Wiltshire countryside on the way home rather than the M4. We drove through Inkpen and encountered a pub called The Swan Inn. We decided we needed a drink and a pee. Well what a surreal experience!

We walked in the door and a country gentleman who appeared to be a real yokel stood by the fire and said that they were closed. He quickly changed his mind and said we can get a drink. There was one other couple there with a toddler and the woman who was clearly not on the staff served us. The older guy carried on a conversation with us and the younger couple which was great but (as I said before) surreal.

Another two families turned up and got drinks. They appeared to be local people.

Rose and I wanted to stay there and listen to the conversations but it was 4 o'clock and we were still an hour or so from home. It was a great experience. Just what living in this country is all about.
